Michael (Mike) Hohner of Eagle Harbor joined his parents and 4 siblings in heaven on July 5, 2015 after a lengthy and hard battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Mike was born in Cleveland Ohio on January 31, 1944. His family moved to Detroit when he was 2 years old where he spent his youth and early adulthood.
He worked as an orderly at Providence Hospital after his graduation where he chose his bride Mary Ann from a large number of student nurses. They were married on August 14, 1965 and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary next month. They moved to Toledo as newly weds where Mike worked for 30 years as an accountant at Chrysler and where they stayed and raised 3 children.
Mike spent his summers as a teenager in Eagle Harbor and it became his dream to retire there some day. He realized his dream when he retired at the young age of 52 and came to live in the house he and Mary Ann had purchased for their 25th anniversary with that dream in mind. Mary Ann joined him 8 years later and they truly enjoyed their life together in the Copper Country.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marwyn and Josephine Hohner and his siblings Merwyn Jr., Joann, Jean and Jim.
He leaves behind his wife Mary Ann who adored him, 3 children Kristin (Eric) Kohring, John and Rick Hohner and 7 wonderful grandchildren: Zachary, Tori, Bailey, Joseph, Ben, Molly and Jake.
It was Mike’s wish that he be cremated and following a private funeral mass be buried at Eagle Harbor Cemetery in a private ceremony.
Mike would like all of his friends to remember him as someone who lived out his dream in Eagle Harbor and cherished every minute of it.
