Paula Louise Havens, 91, a former resident of Calumet, passed away Monday May 4, 2015 at Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
She was born on January 11, 1924 to her parents Walter and Reva (Bolster) Moore in Belding, Michigan.
She was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in El Paso, TX during World War II, working as a mechanic on the bombers.
On February 9, 1946, she married her husband Vernon Havens, in El Paso, TX.
After being discharged, they moved to Ionia County in Lower Michigan to make their home, where they owned and operated a dairy farm until their retirement in 1978, Paula also worked as a school teacher for a while during their years in Lower Michigan.
In 1978 she and Vernon moved to the Calumet area to enjoy their retirement years together, until he passed away on July 8, 1999.
During her free time, she loved to garden and pick berries with Vernon.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Havens; Parents; and siblings, Marvel, Connie, Peg, Janice, Maynard, and Thelma.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Gloria (Roland) McKinstry of Calumet
Brother: Walter Moore of Greenville, Michigan
Sister: Gaylene “Gay” (Gordon) of Muir, Michigan
Special Grand Dog: Bowzer
And multiple special friends, nieces, and nephews
A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 7, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the Veterans Memorial Section at the Lake View Cemetery, with Pastor Bruce Nolen to officiate.
