Obituary for Sylvia Jane Stephens

Sylvia Jane Stephens, passed away at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital on November 26, 2014. She lost a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and other illnesses.

Sylvia was born in Toronto, Canada on May 18, 1951 to Fred and Margaret (Rutherford) Stephens. They preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by a brother James Stephens.

Sylvia graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Accounting. She was an excellent accountant and worked at Northern Hardwoods for many years. She retired due to illness after working her way up to Chief Financial Officer.

Sylvia was a very loyal friend to Rita Snabb and Katie Paxton who loved her and will miss her always. She will also be missed by special friends Crystal, Becky, Jolene, Kari, Carrie, and Wally. Sylvia loved animals and we hope she is with her favorite dog, Porkchop and cat, Sadie.

Sylvia is survived by

nephew Robert Stephens
niece, Lisa Stephens
stepbrothers Douglas and David Stephens
stepsister Debbie Stephens
stepmother Pat Stephens
special cousins Kathy and Steve
Kevin Koskela who was like a son to her

She is also survived by numerous other cousins.

According to Sylvia’s wishes no services will be held. She was cremated and will be laid to rest with her mother in Toronto, Canada. Sylvia loved her home at Traverse Bay and a memorial service will be held for her next summer at the lake. Rest in peace dear friend, your pain has ended.
